POSITION TITLE:

Loan Officer

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Loan Officer
Department: DeRidder area

Reports To: Chief Lending Officer

Employment Status: Full Time

Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Mon. – Fri.) & occasional weekend or after hours work.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible to extend credit and related services to new and existing customers while building strong customer relationships and achieving sales goals. Assists branch team in meeting its goals and objectives through effective teamwork and cooperation.  Works closely with a credit team in the development and analysis of customer information and credit packages. Carries out efficient business development strategies and activities. Seeks to uncover financial needs, minimize loss, reduce risk, and deliver accurate and superior customer service by performing the following duties:


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include, but are not limited to the following:

 

 

·          Explains to customers the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.

·          Meets with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.

·         Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy.

·         Approves loans within specified limits, and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval.

·         Rejects loans by explaining deficiencies to applicants.

·         Approves loans by issuing checks or forwarding applications to loan committee.

·         Completes loan contracts by explaining provisions to applicant; obtaining signatures and notarizations; collecting fees.

·         Helps customers by answering questions; responding to requests.

·         Maintains customer confidence by keeping loan information confidential.

·         Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans.

·         Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

     


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·          High School Diploma or GED

·          Bachelor of Science Degree in Business or five years lending experience required.




BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·          Ability to work with mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios)

·          Knowledge of computer and software application

·          Knowledge of ten-key number pad

·          Ability to work under time constraints, use good judgment, and act in a tactful, professional, non-irritated manner while dealing with the public and co-workers

·          Must have a professional appearance and manner

·          Effectively communicates using verbal, non-verbal, and written skills

·          Ability to work alongside co-workers in a team environment

·          Reliable attendance
